reNEWed

reNEWed

Could I humbly suggest three simple thoughts that could make this one of the happiest years you’ve ever lived? They come from David’s inspired lyrics, and they can make a new — i.e., a reNEWed — person out of you.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions….Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation (Psalms 51:1, 9-12).

First, to have a “Happy New Year,” let God FORGIVE you. Soak up the mercy and love of his grace. Revel in the kindness of his hiding his face from your past.

Second, to have a “Happy New Year,” let God FASHION you into someone better. Allow the teachings of his word to carve away old habits and craft a clean heart in their absence.

Third, to have a “Happy New Year,” let God FELLOWSHIP with you. Feel the embrace of his acceptance and at the joyful assurance of his salvation.

I have but one wish for you for the entirety of this year.

Come to know the warmth of God’s heart
